Community Consultation Events Announced for Proposed Achies Battery Energy Storage System

Residents of Caithness and interested stakeholders are invited to attend a series of community consultation events to learn more about Sun4Net’s proposal for the Achies Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The proposed development would be located northwest of the existing Spittal Converter Station and aims to support energy storage and grid stability in the region.

Previously known as the Balbeg BESS, the project’s name was changed to Achies BESS following early local feedback, reflecting Sun4Net’s commitment to community engagement and responsiveness.

The events will take the form of informal drop-in sessions, providing an opportunity for attendees to meet members of the project team, ask questions, and provide feedback on the proposals. Sun4Net is keen to engage with the local community to ensure transparency and gather valuable insights that may help shape the project.

The consultation events will take place on:

Tuesday 4th March 2025 – Thurso Library, 2.30pm-7.30pm
Wednesday 5th March 2025 – The Ross Institute, Halkirk, 2.30pm-7.30pm

All members of the community are encouraged to attend to find out more about the Achies BESS project and share their views.
