About BESS

Battery Energy Storage Systems
Battery Energy Storage Systems, or BESS, play a crucial role in modern energy infrastructure. They store surplus electricity when supply exceeds demand and release it when demand is high. This helps balance the grid, enhance energy security, and integrate more renewable energy sources such as wind and solar.
BESS typically use lithium-ion batteries, similar to those found in mobile phones and electric vehicles, but on a much larger scale. These systems are managed with advanced software to optimise efficiency and respond to real-time grid conditions.
The proposal
The Achies BESS will contribute to a low-carbon future by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and improving the efficiency of renewable electricity generated in the region.
